What’s with the ^ on some website package items?

Website Hosting

We offer the first 12 months of website hosting for free as part of a new website build. Website hosting is just another name for renting the space on a server so that your website can live there and be displayed on the world wide web – think of it as paying the bookshop to keep your book on the shelf and accessible to customers. After the initial 12 months of hosting, a renewal fee will apply with standard pricing ranging from $120-$460 annually depending on your website size and traffic. We’ll send an invoice 30 days prior to your renewal date so there’s no surprises. As an alternative, we can also set up your website with a 3-year hosting plan where we’ll just charge you the additional 2 years of hosting upfront at the time of website build (and you’ll save a bit in the process).

SSL Certificate

Every website needs an SSL certificate – it’s basically the security guard that encrypts all the data traveling between your website and your visitors. It’s what puts that little padlock icon in the browser address bar and turns your website address from “http://” to “https://” (the ‘s’ stands for ‘secure’). Think of it like the difference between sending someone a sealed, tamper-proof envelope versus a postcard that anyone can read. Your SSL certificate ensures customer details, contact forms, and any sensitive information stays private and secure. Google also loves SSL certificates and will actually rank your website higher if you have one (and penalise you if you don’t). The good news? We include your SSL certificate free of charge for the life of your hosting with us – it’s automatically renewed and maintained so you never have to think about it.

Domain Names

Domain names (www.YourDomain.com.au) come in all shapes and sizes. Most domain names are classified as ‘standard’ names which we include free of charge for the first 12 months. We’ll work with you to find the most suitable website name and register either a .com.au or .com domain at the time of your website build. Unfortunately, domains can’t be purchased for life – they’re essentially just rented for a set period of time (generally 1-3 years). After your initial 12 months, these attract an annual renewal fee of between $15-$30 depending on the domain extension, and we’ll send an invoice 30 days prior to your renewal date. As an alternative, we can also register your domain for a 3-year period and we’ll just charge you the additional 2 years of domain fees upfront at the time of website build.

Already Have a Domain?  If you’ve already registered a domain name elsewhere (like GoDaddy, Crazy Domains, VentraIP, or through a previous web developer), that’s fine! We can build your new website and simply talk you through pointing your existing domain to the new website.  There’s no additional charge for this option, though you’ll need to continue managing your domain renewals with your current provider.

A word on ‘premium’ domains: Some domain names are classified as ‘premium’ if the words are particularly popular, brandable, or highly sought after. Pricing for premium domains can range from hundreds to thousands of dollars depending on how desirable the name is. You’re more than welcome to purchase one of these premium domains for your new website, however these will be charged at cost back to you on top of your website package.
